We try to optimize our regular routes for safety and comfort. Because of that they evolve over time based on road conditions, traffic patterns, time of year, etc. (And sometimes by the whims of the usual suspects...)
Our primary route starts at the Brannon Center (105 S Riverside Dr, New Smyrna Beach) and heads south down Riverside Dr, through Florida Shores and then Volco/Beacon Light. When we reach Maytown Rd on weekdays we usually turn left and make a loop along the river and take a break at the Tiki hut just north of Goodrich's and then work our way back north via US 1 to Ariel, through Florida Shores again, Airpark Rd, a piece of the Edgewater trail and on to coffee. On weekends we usually turn right at Maytown Rd and pick up the Edgewater-Osteen trail and take it north. Sometimes we take the alternate option due to weather (north winds are way less brutal on the trail) or whim. Both options are roughly 30 miles, the trail option being slightly less.
Our Sunday routes start at either Rotary Park (902 W Park Ave, Edgewater) or the Cow Creek Trailhead (Cow Creek Rd, .4 miles south of SR 442). Both are out and backs on the bike trail with the turn around at Vergie's. ~32 and ~24 miles respectively.
Our Wednesday route starts at the Brannon Center (105 S Riverside Dr, New Smyrna Beach) and is an out-and-back to Sugarmill Estates to ride a loop or two around the development. ~20 miles plus any extra loops (~3.5 miles each).
